In a significant development for UPI users, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced a major update to the UPI system, effective from December 31, 2025.<\/p>\n
This new feature will enable users to view and manage all their payments and autopayments from any UPI app, such as Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm, regardless of which app was initially used to set up the payments. Additionally, users will have the ability to transfer their autopayments from one app to another.<\/p>\n
Currently, users must check each individual app for different autopayments. For example, if an electricity bill is set to autopay on Google Pay and a Netflix subscription on PhonePe, users must manage each payment separately on the respective apps. <\/p>\n
With the upcoming changes, users will be able to view and control all their payments from a single app of their choice, streamlining financial planning.<\/p>\n
New Authentication Measures Introduced<\/h2>\n NPCI has also assured users that this update will not impose any pressure on them. There will be no cashback offers or notifications urging the use of specific apps, leaving the choice entirely up to the user. <\/p>\n
Additionally, new authentication methods, such as face recognition and biometric verification, have been added to enhance the security of UPI transactions.<\/p>\n
The new rule mandates that all UPI apps and payment service providers implement this feature by December 31, 2025.<\/p>\n
Easier Financial Planning Ahead<\/h2>\n This will simplify the tracking of autopayments, including bill payments, subscriptions, and loan instalments. If users need to switch UPI apps for any reason, they will be able to transfer their autopayments easily.<\/p>\n
This feature is particularly advantageous for those who use multiple UPI apps and wish to consolidate their payment information in one place. The change is expected to further enhance the convenience and efficiency of digital payments, making financial management more seamless and effective.<\/p>\n
